Vishal started the company because of his gaming passion. In fact he declined his first round of VC funding since he did not understand what venture capital was all about, and neither did he recognize the name of the company: PriceWaterhouse Cooper (PWC). He was 21 years old when PWC made the offer. He subsequently did get a round of funding from PWC.
There are about one million games sold every month in India says Vishal, and he expects the Indian market to grow and become bigger. He says that "gaming is the killer app," for the Internet in India.
What will be the primary device to access the Internet in India? It is the mobile says Vishal and not the PC. He also says that online Internet commerce is poised to take off in India.
Vishal says that the writing is on the wall that India has great potential to compete with Microsoft, or a Cisco. He points out what Lenovo has done in China is likely to happen in India in the near future.
India Games was founded in 1999. Two years ago TOM, Macromedia (now Adobe) and Cisco acquired strategic stakes in India Games. The company develops and publishes games for various devices (mobile, PC, console), platforms and flavors(Java, I-Mode, Brew, and Flash Lite).
India Games has created its own Intellectual Property (IP) rights and today distributes its content to major telecom/mobile companies like Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, O2 and others.
India Games is located in Mumbai, India.
Vishal lives with his family in Mumbai. His wife Harpreet also works at India Games.
