Smriti was 16 years old when she started working. While studying for her undergraduate degree, Smriti juggled her college credits along with her professional career in the film industry. She confesses that for four years she barely got any sleep while staying focused on her two top priorities.

Smirti Mundhra is an upcoming producer and part of the film company Drops Entertainment. Smriti talks to Kamla Bhatt on the eve of Waterborne's debut on Google Video that was unveiled at the 2006 Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas.

 

Drops Entertainment's film Waterborne became one of the first independent movies to debut on Google Video. Smriti discusses how and why they decided to distribute their new film on Google Video.

Waterborne deals with the fictional aftermath of what happens when the water system of Los Angeles county gets contaminated. What happens when four million people in this huge sprawling county are left stranded without clean drinking water? The film stars Christopher Masterson, Jon Greis, Ajay Naidu and Shabana Azmi, and is directed by Ben Rekhi.

A few years ago, Smriti and her friends founded Drops Entertainment. They have so far produced and released two films Bomb The System and Waterborne and have a third one CarBabes is ready for release.

Smriti won the 2005 Mira Nair award for a rising female filmmaker from the Harlem Film Institute. When she is not working on a film project, Smriti is pursuing a Masters degree at Columbia University.
